Nella giornata di ieri l’Italia ha vinto l’Europeo e l’Argentina la Copa America, ma parlando di cose serie si è conclusa la fase a giorni della AFC Champions League nella East Zone. Tornando veramente seri, questa fase a gironi non è stata sicuramente imperdibile, senza le rappresentative australiane e di fatto, quelle cinesi, che hanno inviato alla manifestazione le squadre giovanili. Dunque si è vista tanta disparità in campo con molti match che hanno superato il punteggio tennistico.

Alla fine a passare al turno successivo sono quattro giapponesi, tre coreane ed una thailandese. Vediamo dunque quelli che sono stati i numeri e le imprese di queste ultime settimane di Champions League

Record di gol

Il montenegrino Dejan Damjanovic, attaccante del Kitchee, è entrato nella storia del calcio asiatico diventando il marcatore all time nella storia della AFC Champions League frantumando il record di Lee Dong-gook. Grazie alle quattro reti segnate nella fase a gironi, Damjanovic ha raggiunto le 40 marcature nella competizione internazionale, ma questo brillante record purtroppo non è stato sufficiente per il Kitchee per rientrare fra le tre migliori seconde e dunque la squadra di Hong Kong, nonostante gli 11 punti collezionati, esce alla fase a gironi.

Vittorie consecutive in Champions League

I campioni in carica dell’Ulsan Hyundai hanno stabilito un nuovo record per le vittorie consecutive in Champions League infrangendo la precedente serie di risultato stabilita sempre dall’Ulsan fra il 2012 ed il 2014 che si era fermata ad 11. Ora il nuovo record è di 15 successi con l’Ulsan Hyundai che ha vinto tutte le partite del proprio girone grazie anche alla miglior difesa della fase a gironi con un solo gol concesso.

Girone a punteggio pieno

Prima di quest’anno solamente quattro squadre avevano compiuto l’impresa di concludere il girone a punteggio pieno: lo Shandong Luneng (Cina) e il Busan IPark (Corea) nel 2005, il Kashima Antlers (Giappone) nel 2010 e l’Al Duhail (Qatar) nel 2018. Nessuna di queste squadre ha poi vinto la Champions quell’anno. Quest’anno a concludere la fase a gironi con sei vittorie sono state il già citato Ulsan Hyundai ed i giapponesi del Kawasaki Frontale (squadra campione in carica in J-League).

Se l’Ulsan ha raggiunto questo traguardo con una difesa impenetrabile il Kawasaki lo ha fatto invece con il miglior attacco: 27 gol segnati, di cui sei dal brasiliano Leandro Damiao (inclusa questa splendida rovesciata).

Il Kawasaki per un solo gol non eguaglia il record di gol segnati nella fase a gironi: le 28 reti messe a segno dal Kashima Antlers nel 2008

 

Vittorie con più ampio margine

Ci sono state 5 vittorie che hanno superato il margine del termine tennistico

Gamba Osaka-Tampines Rovers 8-1
Kawasaki Frontale – United City 8-0
Jeonbuk – Tampines Rovers 9-0
Kawasaki Frontale – Beijing Guoan 7-0
Daegu – United City 7-0

Nessuna di queste si avvicina però alle vittorie con più ampio margine nella storia della Champions: stiamo parlando di due 15-0, il primo nel 2004 con il Seongnam che distrusse gli indonesiani del Persik Kediri, il secondo nel 2006 con i vietnamiti del Da Nang che furono travolti dal Gamba Osaka.

Anche in questo caso siamo andati molto vicini dall’eguagliare un record: quello della peggior difesa, che appartiene agli indonesiani del Persipura Jayapura con 29 reti subite nel 2010. In questo 2021, il Tampines Rovers, squadra singaporeana al debutto assoluto ha concesso 27 gol.

 

Verso gli ottavi di finale

Finalmente la competizione assume una certa serietà ora che ci siamo lasciati alle spalle la fase a gironi: a metà settembre si procede con la fase ad eliminazione diretta con molti incontri davvero interessanti

Ad est, i campioni in carica dell’Ulsan Hyundai affronteranno la devastante macchina da gol del Kawasaki Frontale di Leandro Damiao, dominatrice assoluta in Giappone. Il Nagoya Grampus di Ficcadenti, squadra estremamente organizzata e inscalfibile, se la vedrà contro la sfrontatezza del Daeugu di Cesinha. I campioni di Corea del Jeonbuk affronteranno la squadra rivelazione di quest’ultimo anno, i thailandesi del BG Pathum United. Infine, il Cerezo Osaka sfiderà i tre volte campioni d’Asia del Pohang Steelers in un match fra underdogs di quest’edizione.
