Sono stati i migliori marcatori giapponesi in Europa in questa stagione ed entrambi sognano ora di fare la differenza in una competizione europea. E’ stato un grande anno per Takuma Asano e Yuma Suzuki rispettivamente con il Partizan Belgrado ed il Sint-Truiden, con i due che per differenti motivi cambieranno aria nel corso della sessione estiva di calciomercato. I due rappresentano un’ottima occasione di mercato per svariati club ed una delle destinazioni potrebbe essere anche l’Italia, seppur sia difficile vedere uno dei due giocatori in Serie A.
Più facile per i due, invece, un approdo in Bundesliga o in Liga, campionati che più si addicono allo stile di gioco che preferiscono, mentre come per la Serie A è complicato pensare ad un trasferimento in Premier League, anche perché i due giocatori vogliono l’Europa e serve un progetto che li soddisfi sotto tutti i punti di vista. Asano e Suzuki non accetteranno chiunque, ma daranno la precedenza ai club che giocheranno in Europa per poter misurarsi con i migliori calciatori del nostro continente. E per la stagione disputata da entrambi, l’Europa è il palcoscenico che più gli si addice.
La stagione di Takuma Asano
Asano quest’anno ha giocato 40 partite stagionali con il Partizan Belgrado, segnando un totale di 21 gol, di cui 18 in 33 presenze nel campionato serbo (miglior marcatore giapponese in Europa in una singola stagione) e 3 nella coppa serba. Numeri importanti anche per quanto riguarda gli assist che sono 10, di cui 8 in campionato, 1 in coppa ed 1 nei play-off di Europa League. Nonostante i suoi gol, il Partizan è rimasto sempre dietro in campionato allo Stella Rossa che ha ormai il titolo in tasca ad una giornata dal termine.
Tuttavia, il Giaguaro non ha concluso la stagione con il Partizan visto che ha rescisso il contratto con il club serbo da qualche settimana. Il motivo della rescissione, come spiegato dallo stesso Asano sul suo blog, sarebbe stato il mancato pagamento dello stipendio da parte del Partizan, cosa che non è andata per niente giù al giapponese classe 1994 che ha deciso di lasciare il club. Una decisione che ha scatenato molte voci e polemiche anche all’interno dello spogliatoio.
Ad attaccare duramente Asano è stato il 27enne Lazar Markovic, ala destra ed uno dei senatori della squadra serba. L’ex Liverpool e Benfica ha accusato Asano di pensare solo ai soldi e di lasciare la squadra ancora in corsa per campionato e coppa senza pensarci due volte. Inoltre, Markovic ha dichiarato come Asano abbia tradito la fiducia di tutti nello spogliatoio, rendendosi irreperibile a cellulare e andando via senza dire una parola.
In difesa di Asano è arrivato il ct della nazionale giapponese Hajime Moriyasu che ha sostenuto come il Giaguaro non sia una persona che pugnala gli altri alle spalle. Il ct dei Samurai Blue ha dichiarato di volerci vedere più chiaro nella situazione essendo spettatore esterno, ma è chiaro da quale parte stia. Ed ora quale futuro per Asano? Qualche giorno fa si era parlato di un accordo con il Trabzonspor, ma gli acquisti di Bruno Peres e soprattutto Gervinho potrebbero far saltare il suo arrivo in Turchia. Si è parlato anche di Celtic, ma più che vera trattativa, al momento è più un rumor proveniente dalla Scozia.
Asano a parametro zero, comunque, rappresenta un’occasione da non lasciarsi sfuggire. Il Giaguaro potrebbe avere un futuro in Bundesliga e l’Eintracht Francoforte potrebbe farci un pensiero nel caso in cui Daichi Kamada dovesse lasciare il club (i tedeschi chiedono 30 milioni di euro ndr.). In Spagna potrebbero pensarci invece il Betis Siviglia nel caso in cui i verdiblancos decidessero di cambiare look al proprio reparto offensivo.
La stagione di Yuma Suzuki
Stagione clamorosa quella appena terminata in Belgio con il Sint-Truiden per Yuma Suzuki che si posiziona solo dietro allo stesso Asano per numero di gol segnati in una singola stagione da un calciatore giapponese. L’ex Kashima Antlers ha siglato 17 reti in 33 presenze nella sola Jupiler League, contribuendo in maniera importante alla salvezza del club e venendo nominato MVP della stagione da parte dei tifosi. Tifosi che sanno bene che questa è stata la seconda ed ultima stagione di Suzuki con la maglia dei Canarini ed è stato lo stesso attaccante originario di Chiba a dirlo.
Dopo due anni in Jupiler League dove sono arrivati 24 gol in 60 presenze, Suzuki vuole ora giocare una competizione europea in un club più importante. Anche il DS del Sint-Truiden André Pinto e l’allenatore Peter Maes ha dichiarato come Suzuki non farà più parte della rosa il prossimo anno, con il club belga che ha bisogno di vendere per risanare un po’ il proprio bilancio. Ciò non significa che il Sint-Truiden svenderà il giocatore, ma anzi vorrà ricavare il più possibile della sua cessione.
Stando a quanto riportato dai media fiamminghi, il Sint-Truiden chiede almeno 4,5 milioni di euro per Suzuki, una cifra accessibile per un club che gioca in Europa e per tale cifra Suzuki è da prendere al volo. Nonostante riteniamo difficile un approdo in Italia, in un’intervista recente l’attaccante classe 1996 ha dichiarato come gli piacerebbe giocare in Serie A, dando priorità alle offerte che potrebbero arrivare dal nostro paese.
Offerte che al momento non paiono esserci per Suzuki che deve quindi guardarsi intorno. Il giocatore ha già rifiutato l’Hertha Berlino, facendo capire con i fatti come voglia un club che giochi in Europa, ed ha quindi tagliato fuori dalla corsa anche i francesi dell’Angers. Negli ultimi giorni si è parlato di un interesse del Fenerbahce, con il club turco che giocherà in Europa il prossimo anno ed a caccia di un rincalzo. Una trattativa ancora in fase embrionale, con i turchi che potrebbero proporre al Sint-Truiden uno scambio, con il club belga interessato a Michael Frey.
Come per Asano, anche Suzuki il futuro è ancora incerto e potrebbe essere in Bundesliga o Liga, ma è chiaro che l’ex Antlers spera ancora che qualche club di Serie A che giochi in Europa il prossimo anno si faccia avanti.
Un posto per due
Per quanto riguarda il capitolo nazionale, Moriyasu ha il suo bel da fare visto che scegliere tra Asano e Suzuki, visto il loro anno, non è affatto semplice. Difficile che l’ex allenatore del Sanfrecce Hiroshima possa convocarli entrambi ed i due giocatori sono dunque in lotta per un posto molto importante. Inizia un periodo cruciale per il Giappone ad un anno di distanza dal Mondiale e sia Asano che Suzuki devono ponderare il loro futuro sapendo che una scelta sbagliata li estrometterebbe dalle scelte del ct.
Al momento Asano è favorito su Suzuki per le prossime convocazioni, ma non solo per un fatto puramente di campo. Il rapporto tra Moriyasu e Suzuki non è per niente idilliaco, con il secondo che criticò pubblicamente le scelte del primo qualche mese fa ed il ct se l’è legata al titolo, mettendolo fuori dalle sue idee a tempo indeterminato. Nonostante di acqua ne sia passata sotto i ponti, la situazione non sembra essere migliorata come si può evincere da questo tweet di Suzuki dello scorso 20 Aprile dove scrisse: “Vado per la prima strada. Non mi importa di quelli che non hanno interesse in me” con tanto di emoji a zittire qualcuno.

Appare dunque chiaro come il sole che Suzuki non si sia ancora riappacificato con il ct, cosa che appare improbabile visto che l’attaccante è una testa molto calda. Ed il ct, anch’egli duro quanto Suzuki, non sembra intenzionato a passarci sopra. Una situazione che mette Asano in chiaro vantaggio in vista della lista dei convocati che verrà diramata settimana prossima.
Takuma Asano & Yuma Suzuki: goal scoring duo on the hunt for a team
They have been Japan’s top scorers in Europe this season and both now dream of making a difference in European competition. It has been a great year for Takuma Asano and Yuma Suzuki with Partizan Belgrade and Sint-Truiden respectively, with the two of them that will change sides for different reasons during the summer transfer window. The two represent an excellent market opportunity for several clubs and one of the destinations could be Italy, although it is difficult to see either player in Serie A.
A move to the Bundesliga or La Liga is easier for the two players, as these leagues suit their style of play, while a move to the Premier League is difficult to envisage, as the two players want to play in Europe and need a project that will satisfy them from all points of view. Asano and Suzuki will not accept just anyone, but will give priority to clubs that play in Europe in order to measure themselves against the best players on our continent. And for the season they have both played, Europe is the stage that suits them best.
The season of Takuma Asano
Asano has played 40 games this year with Partizan Belgrade, scoring a total of 21 goals, including 18 in 33 appearances in the Serbian league (Japan’s top scorer in Europe in a single season) and 3 in the Serbian cup. He also scored 10 assists, including 8 in the league, 1 in the cup and 1 in the Europa League play-offs. Despite his goals, Partizan were still behind Red Star in the league, who have the title in their pockets with one fixture to go.
However, the Jaguar did not finish the season with Partizan as he terminated his contract with the Serbian club a few weeks ago. The reason for the termination, as explained by Asano himself on his blog, would have been the non-payment of salary by Partizan, something that did not go down at all with the Japanese born in 1994 who decided to leave the club. A decision that has sparked many rumours and controversy even within the locker room.
The 27-year-old Lazar Markovic, a right winger and one of the senators of the Serbian team, attacked Asano. The former Liverpool and Benfica man accused Asano of thinking only about money and leaving the team still in the running for the league and cup without a second thought. In addition, Markovic said that Asano had betrayed the trust of everyone in the dressing room, making himself unavailable by mobile phone and leaving without a word.
Japan national team coach Hajime Moriyasu came to Asano’s defence and claimed that the Jaguar is not someone who stabs others in the back. The Samurai Blue coach stated that he wanted to see more clearly into the situation by being an outside spectator, but it is clear which side he is on. And now what future for Asano? A few days ago there was talk of a deal with Trabzonspor, but the signings of Bruno Peres and especially Gervinho could scupper his arrival in Turkey. There was also talk of Celtic, but rather than real negotiations, at the moment it is more of a rumor coming from Scotland.
However, Asano as free agent is an opportunity not to be missed. The Jaguar could have a future in the Bundesliga and Eintracht Frankfurt could give him a thought should Daichi Kamada leave the club (the Germans are asking for €30 million). In Spain, instead, Betis Sevilla could think about it in case the verdiblancos decide to change the look of their offensive department.
The season of Yuma Suzuki
Yuma Suzuki has had a sensational season in Belgium with Sint-Truiden, ranking only behind Asano for the number of goals scored in a single season by a Japanese player. The former Kashima Antlers player has scored 17 goals in 33 appearances in the Jupiler League alone, making an important contribution to the club’s salvation and being named MVP of the season by the fans. Fans are well aware that this was Suzuki’s second and last season with the Canaries’ jersey and it was the Chiba-born striker himself who said so.
After two years in the Jupiler League where he scored 24 goals in 60 appearances, Suzuki now wants to play a European competition at a more important club. Sint-Truiden DS André Pinto and coach Peter Maes have also stated that Suzuki will no longer be part of the squad next year, with the Belgian club needing to sell in order to balance their books. That does not mean Sint-Truiden will sell off the player, but rather want to make as much money as possible from his sale.
According to reports in the Flemish media, Sint-Truiden are asking for at least €4.5m for Suzuki, which is affordable for a club playing in Europe and for that amount of money Suzuki is a steal. Although we think a move to Italy would be difficult, the 1996-born striker said in a recent interview that he would love to play in Serie A, giving priority to offers that might come from Italy.
Offers that currently do not seem to exist for Suzuki, who must therefore look around. The player has already turned down Hertha Berlin, making it clear that he wants a club that plays in Europe, and has therefore cut out French side Angers from the race. In recent days there has been talk of interest from Fenerbahce, with the Turkish club playing in Europe next year and looking for a back-up in attack. A negotiation still in its embryonic phase, with the Turks who could propose to Sint-Truiden an exchange, with the Belgian club interested in Michael Frey.
As with Asano, Suzuki’s future is still uncertain and could be in the Bundesliga or La Liga, but it is clear that the former Antlers man is still hoping that some Serie A club playing in Europe next year will step up.
A place for two
As for the national team, Moriyasu has his work cut out for him as the choice between Asano and Suzuki, given their year, is not an easy one. It is difficult for the former Sanfrecce Hiroshima coach to call up both of them and the two players are therefore fighting for a very important place. A crucial period begins for Japan one year before the World Cup and both Asano and Suzuki must weigh up their future, knowing that a wrong choice would exclude them from the coach’s choices.
At the moment Asano is the favourite over Suzuki for the next call-up, but not only for a purely field fact. The relationship between Moriyasu and Suzuki is by no means idyllic, with the latter publicly criticising the former’s choices a few months ago and the coach tying him to the title, putting him out of his ideas indefinitely. Although a lot of water has passed under the bridge, the situation does not seem to have improved as can be seen from this tweet by Suzuki last April 20 where he wrote: “I go my own may. I don’t care about those who have no interest in me,” complete with emoji to shut someone up.
It is therefore clear as day that Suzuki has not yet made peace with the coach, which seems unlikely given that the striker is a very hothead. And the coach, who is just as tough as Suzuki, does not seem to want to get over it. A situation that puts Asano at a clear advantage ahead of the squad list that will be released next week.
