Argentina, Don Torcuato, un agglomerato di 300.000 abitanti nei pressi della capitale, Buenos Aires. E’ la fine del Marzo 1993 e vide la luce uno dei futuri crack per il mondo del calcio sudamericano e successivamente asiatico: stiamo parlando di Cristian Guanca.
Come tutta la popolazione sudamericana, si nasce e cresce con la passione per il gioco del calcio, che sembrerebbe quasi innata. Così Cristian iniziò giovanissimo a tirare calci al pallone, a 6 anni, giocando per un club provinciale. Il suo talento fu notato subito dai grandi e lo spinse l’anno successivo (a soli 7 anni) ad entrare a far parte di un club professionistico: il Chacarita Juniors.
Qui seguì tutto il percorso di formazione e crescita a livello giovanile, per poi esordire in prima squadra nel 2010. Cristian Guanca svolge alla perfezione il ruolo di esterno e trequartista.
Nel 2015 alzo’ il livello firmando per il Colon di Santa Fè, allenato dalla leggenda Dario Franco. La sua esperienza verrà per sempre ricordata dai tifosi grazie al gol segnato al Boca Juniors.
A sorpresa dopo un solo anno firmò all’Emelec, anche se in prestito, club colombiano che disputava la Libertadores, vero motivo di trasferimento di Cristian, dove esordi’ e segno’ contro il Club Olimpia.
Purtroppo però, Cristian è stato vittima delle grandi aziende di procuratori sportivi, dove un calciatore fermo non produce denaro ed è sempre stato costretto ad essere nomade, nonostante il suo talento; il suo cartellino era ancora una comproprietà tra il Chacarita ed il Colon e questo gli creò diversi problemi.
Volendosi però mettere alla prova, approdò in Europa al Kasimpasa, club turco che lo acquistò in prestito con il diritto di riscatto a 3 milioni (che si sarebbero suddivisi tra i due club). Al Kasimpasa ebbe una discreta esperienza segnando due gol e aiutando la propria squadra nella salvezza, ma il tenore di vita turco fece avere a Guanca diversi disguidi con la società che così non lo rinnovò.
Tornato così al Colon, fece un anno sottotono, un ragazzo, all’epoca 24enne che si vedeva avesse i mezzi ma peccasse di motivazioni.
La sua decisione fu di andare a rappresentare il proprio paese all’estero, sposando cosi la causa e approcciando la sfida Asiatica.
Cristian fece il primo anno in prestito all’al Ettifaq, in Arabia Saudita, dove in 29 partite siglò 14 gol, tanto da convincere l’al Shabab di acquistare le prestazioni dell’argentino che così come il club era in cerca di riscatto.
A Luglio 2019 iniziò così la rinascita del talento argentino Cristian Guanca che per 1 milione di euro passò ufficialmente all’al Shabab. Il resto è storia: nella sua prima stagione siglò 11 reti, giocando da trequartista, esterno o mediano; ma la vera svolta è arrivata quest’anno dove insieme al suo club, ricco di grandi giocatori come il Tanguito Banega e l’ex Manchester United, Odion Ighalo, sta lottando per il titolo ed ha implementato nel suo repertorio anche il ruolo di attaccante, guadagnando il soprannome/pregio di “tuttofare”. Fino ad ora ha segnato 15 reti e servito 4 assist (a 5 giornate dal termine). L’anno prossimo prenderà parte all’AFC Champions League ed è li che vedremo se Cristian sarà un giocatore di livello altissimo così come sembrerebbe.

Cristian Guanca: the all-rounder

Like all South American people, one is born and grows up with a passion for the game of soccer, which seems almost innate. So Cristian started kicking the ball when he was very young, at the age of 6, playing for a provincial club. His talent was immediately noticed by the adults and pushed him the following year (at only 7 years old) to join a professional club: Chacarita Juniors.
Here he followed the whole path of training and growth at youth level, before making his debut in the first team in 2010. Cristian Guanca plays to perfection the role of external and trequartista.
In 2015 he raised the level by signing for Colon of Santa Fe, coached by legend Dario Franco. His experience will forever be remembered by the fans thanks to the goal scored against Boca Juniors.
Surprisingly, after only one year he signed for Emelec, even if on loan, a Colombian club that played the Libertadores, the real reason for Cristian’s transfer, where he debuted and scored against Club Olimpia.
Unfortunately, Cristian was a victim of the big companies of sports agents, where a stationary player does not produce money and has always been forced to be nomadic, despite his talent; his card was still a co-ownership between Chacarita and Colon and this created several problems.
However, wanting to put himself to the test, he landed in Europe at Kasimpasa, a Turkish club that bought him on loan with the right of redemption at 3 million (which would be divided between the two clubs). At Kasimpasa he had a discreet experience scoring two goals and helping his team in the salvation, but the Turkish way of life made Guanca have several disagreements with the club that did not renew him.
He returned to Colon and had an underwhelming year, a young man, 24 years old at the time, who was seen to have the means but lacked motivation.
His decision was to go and represent his country abroad, marrying the cause and approaching the Asian challenge.
Cristian did his first year on loan at al Ettifaq, in Saudi Arabia, where in 29 games he scored 14 goals, enough to convince al Shabab to buy the performance of the Argentine that as well as the club was looking for redemption.
In July 2019 thus began the rebirth of the Argentine talent Cristian Guanca that for 1 million euros officially passed to al Shabab. The rest is history: in his first season he sealed 11 goals, playing as a trequartista, outside or midfielder; but the real turning point came this year where together with his club he is fighting for the title and has implemented in his repertoire also the role of striker, earning the nickname/prestige of “all-rounder”. So far he has scored 15 goals and served 4 assists (with 5 days to go). Next year he will take part in the AFC Champions League and it is there that we will see if Cristian will be a top level player as it would seem.
