La rivoluzione dell’Al-Nassr: tra crisi e…Spalletti?

Dopo sole due settimane di pausa trascorse dall’ultima gara, disputata, della “precedente stagione”, l’al-Nassr è ripartita per la nuova stagione di Saudi Pro League e l’inizio non è stato uno dei migliori.

IL MERCATO RIVOLUZIONARIO

Saud Al Suwailem, giovanissimo presidente del team di Riyadh, fece intuire già da quest’estate che sarebbe stata una stagione di rivoluzioni: L’acquisto di un nome pesante come il classe 1993 Gonzalo “El Pity” Martinez dall’Atlanta United è stato concluso per una cifra attorno ai 20 milioni di euro e con tutte le restrizioni di foreign players tra campionato e soprattutto AFC Champions League, era ovvio che dei nomi bollenti sarebbero stati pronti a dare l’addio.

Infatti non è tardato l’annuncio della cessione di Giuliano, fantasista brasiliano protagonista assoluto della cavalcata che ha portato al titolo nel 2019, o meglio, del suo non rinnovo di contratto terminato con l’approdo in Turchia sponda Istanbul Basaksehir. Una cessione veramente pesante considerando che il brasiliano in quasi 60 partite di campionato aveva segnato 20 gol per poi servire 10 assist e dunque essere influente in metà o poco più delle partite, da solo, senza contare il resto della squadra.

Dopo di lui anche Ahmed Musa (costato 16 milioni nel 2018) esterno offensivo nigeriano ex Leicester e CSKA Mosca non ha visto il suo contratto non rinnovarsi, tanto da essere ancora svincolato. L’annuncio è arrivato da un post sul profilo Twitter dell’al-Nassr che ringraziava il falco nigeriano per il suo operato svolto in questi due anni, terminati con un totale di 10 gol e 15 assist.

Sarà poi il turno dell’addio degli uomini d’esperienza, come il terzino Faraj di 32 anni finito all’al-Raed o come il centrale di difesa Omar Hawsawi, di 35 anni, pilastro della nazionale saudita che dopo 9 anni lascerà Riyadh per andare nello storico club di Jeddah, al-Ittihad; ma non da solo, perché insieme a lui con la stessa provenienza e verso la stessa direzione ci sono il mediano Abdulaziz Al-Jebreen e il terzino Al-Mansour che salutano rispettivamente dopo 6 e 2 anni.

Ma non si parla solo di cessioni, infatti gli acquisti sono stati altrettanto importanti e dopo Martinez, più precisamente, insieme a lui è stato annunciato e presentato Kim Jin-Su, laterale sinistro di difesa, classe 1992, campione di tutto con Jeonbuk e con un passato all’Hoffenheim in Bundesliga, dove ha militato per quasi 3 anni. Sempre in difesa per la fascia destra è stato preso un cambio per l’insostituibile Al-Ghannam, infatti dall’Al-Fateh è stato Al-Oujami, classe 1996 ad esser stato scelto come tale. E come ultimo per questo reparto, ma non in ordine di importanza, è stato riscattato dal Galatasaray il roccioso centrale di difesa Maicon, classe 1988 e pilastro inamovibile di questo team.

Successivamente, dall’Al-Shabab è stato acquistato il promettente centrocampista Al-Sulaiheem, uno dei giocatori sauditi considerati piu forti, tanto da essere stato al Rayo Vallecano nel 2018 quando Spagna e Arabia Saudita in vista del mondiale di Russia cercavano di farsi pubblicità a livello internazionale. Stando a centrocampo, e ancora, dall’Al-Fateh è stato acquistato Ali Al-Hassan, giovane che in quest’inizio di stagione sta trovando molto spazio, nonostante non convinca ancora a pieno.

Davanti, oltre il gran colpo del Pity Martinez, è stata chiusa una trattativa, a livello locale, molto valida: se infatti si va ad analizzare la classifica marcatori della passata stagione risalterà sicuramente che, dopo la lunga sfilza di foreign players che erano al comando della classifica, il giocatore saudita che ha messo a segno più reti è stato Raed Al-Ghamdi, attaccante cresciuto nelle giovanili dell’Al-Alhi, con un passato nelle serie minori per poi giungere le ultime stagioni in Saudi Pro League sponda al-Batin, Ohod ed infine al-Raed, prima di giungere alla corte dei Faris Najd dove cercherà la finale consacrazione.

Infine, il colpo che fa più ben sperare i supporters dell’Al-Nassr, è l’acquisto del talentuoso fantasista Abdulfattah Asiri, classe 1994, giunto a Riyadh per 2 milioni di euro, talento puro che per movenze e stile di gioco ricorda il primo periodo dell’emiratino Abdulrahman. Asiri infatti è stato da subito decisivo segnando alla sua ex squadra (l’al Alhi) nei quarti di finale di Champions League lo scorso mese.

UN INIZIO DISASTROSO

Ma, come anticipato precedentemente, l’inizio di stagione non è stato uno dei migliori, anzi, tutto il contrario: le prime tre gare di campionato sono state perse contro tre squadre dove era d’obbligo conquistare 9 punti, compreso pure l’al-Shabab che nonostante l’acquisto di Banega resta di lunga inferiore.

La mentalità vincente del presidente e della squadra che fin dagli albori si trova al top, sia dell’Arabia Saudita che del continente Asiatico, ha fatto si che dopo questi scivoloni, iniziati con la sconfitta, seppur sfortunata in semifinale di Champions contro gli iraniani del Persepolis, rischia di portare ad un esonero, con l’allenatore Rui Vitoria sulla graticola.

E’ vero che in campionato sono state numerose le assenze durante queste partite ed una su tutte quelle della punta di diamante Abderazak Hamdallah (70 gol in 58 partite in tutte le competizioni con l’Al-Nassr) che nell’unica gara giocata in questa “nuova stagione”, in King’s Cup ha condotto il proprio team alla vittoria, senza contare gli infortuni di Maicon, Al-Ghannam, Petros, Amrabat e Al-Shehri; però è altrettanto vero che l’ambiente ha bisogno di stimoli nuovi e che in Champions League, andrà in campo un numero limitato di stranieri.

Piove sul bagnato sull’Al Nassr tanto che il 4 novembre ben 13 giocatori sono stati testati positivi al covid-19, fattore che andrà a complicare ulteriormente questo periodo così buio.

Bisogna, dunque, lavorare sui nuovi acquisti, affiancandoli ai piu esperti, ed è per questo che negli ultimi giorni il nome bollente è proprio quello di Luciano Spalletti, accostato dai media alla panchina dell’Al-Nassr, allenatore ottimo dal punto di vista tecnico-tattico ed altrettanto abile nella parte mentale.

Attendendo sviluppi su questa pazza trattativa si puo affermare senza alcun tipo di dubbio che il tecnico toscano sarebbe veramente una ventata d’aria fresca non solo per l’Arabia Saudita, ma per tutto il panorama dell’AFC.

The revolution of Al Nassr, between crisis… and Spalletti

After only two weeks’ break since the last match of the “previous season”, al-Nassr has restarted for the new Saudi Pro League season and the start was not one of the best.

THE REVOLUTIONARY MARKET

Saud Al Suwailem, the very young president of the Riyadh team, had already this summer already sensed that it would be a season of revolutions: The purchase of a heavy name like the 1993 class Gonzalo “El Pity” Martinez from Atlanta United was concluded for around 20 million euros and with all the restrictions of foreign players between league and especially AFC Champions League, it was obvious that some hot names would be ready to say goodbye.

In fact, it wasn’t long before the announcement of the sale of Giuliano, the Brazilian fantasy player who was the absolute protagonist of the ride that led to the title in 2019, or rather, of his non-renewal of a contract that ended with the landing in Turkey on the Istanbul Basaksehir shore. A really heavy transfer considering that the Brazilian in almost 60 league matches had scored 20 goals and then served 10 assists and was therefore influential in half or little more than matches, alone, not counting the rest of the team.

After him also Ahmed Musa (cost 16 million in 2018) Nigerian offensive outside former Leicester and CSKA Moscow did not see his contract renewed, so much so that he was still released. The announcement came from a post on al-Nassr’s Twitter profile thanking the Nigerian falcon for his work over the past two years, which ended with a total of 10 goals and 15 assists.

It will then be the turn of the men of experience to say goodbye, like 32-year-old full-back Faraj who ended up at al-Raed or 35-year-old defence centre Omar Hawsawi, pillar of the Saudi national team, who after 9 years will leave Riyadh to go to the historic club in Jeddah, al-Ittihad; but not alone, because together with him with the same origin and in the same direction there are the halfback Abdulaziz Al-Jebreen and the full-back Al-Mansour who say goodbye after 6 and 2 years respectively.

But we are not only talking about transfers, in fact the purchases were just as important and after Martinez, more precisely, together with him was announced and presented Kim Jin-Su, left defensive lateral, born in 1992, champion of everything with Jeonbuk and with a past at the Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, where he played for almost 3 years. Always in defence for the right side was taken a change for the irreplaceable Al-Ghannam, in fact from Al-Fateh it was Al-Oujami, class 1996 who was chosen as such. And last but not least, Galatasaray redeemed the rocky Maicon defence centre, class of 1988 and irreplaceable pillar of this team.

Subsequently, the promising midfielder Al-Shabab was bought by Al-Sulaiheem, one of the Saudi players considered to be the strongest, so much so that he was at Rayo Vallecano in 2018 when Spain and Saudi Arabia were trying to gain international publicity in view of the Russian World Cup.In midfield, and again, Ali Al-Fateh bought Ali Al-Hassan from Al-Fateh, a young player who is finding a lot of space at the beginning of this season, although he is not yet fully convinced.

In front of them, after the big hit by Pity Martinez, a very good negotiation was closed at local level: In fact, if we go to analyze the scorers’ ranking of last season, it will surely stand out that, after the long string of foreign players who were at the top of the ranking, the Saudi player who scored the most goals was Raed Al-Ghamdi, a forward who grew up in the youth leagues of Al-Alhi, with a past in the minor leagues before reaching the last seasons in Saudi Pro League on the side of al-Batin, Ohod and finally al-Raed, before reaching the court of the Faris Najd where he will look for the final consecration.

Finally, the final blow that gives Al-Nassr’s supporters more hope is the purchase of the talented fantasy player Abdulfattah Asiri, born in 1994, who came to Riyadh for 2 million euros, a pure talent who, for his movements and style of play, recalls the first period of the Emirate Abdulrahman. Asiri in fact was immediately decisive by scoring for his former team (Alhi) in the Champions League quarter-finals last month.

A DISASTROUS START

But, as mentioned earlier, the start of the season was not one of the best, quite the contrary: the first three championship races were lost against three teams where it was a must to win 9 points, including also the al-Shabab which, despite the purchase of Banega, remains much lower.

The winning mentality of the president and the team that has been at the top since the very beginning, both in Saudi Arabia and on the Asian continent, meant that after these slips, which started with the defeat, albeit unlucky in the Champions semifinals against the Iranians of Persepolis, head coach Rui Vitoria was exonerated (after only two games, since the third race was played by, Horvath, an interim coach).
It is true that there were numerous absences in the championship during these matches and one on all those of the spearhead Abderazak Hamdallah (70 goals in 58 matches in all competitions with Al-Nassr) who in the only match played in this “new season”, in King’s Cup led his team to victory, not counting the injuries of Maicon, Al-Ghannam, Petros, Amrabat and Al-Shehri; but it is equally true that the environment needs new stimuli and that in the Champions League, a limited number of foreigners will be playing.

The problems for Al Nassr doesn’t finish here, since 13 players the 4th of november, tested positve to covid-19 test and this will complicate much more the situation

It is necessary, therefore, to work on new signings, alongside the more experienced players, and this is why in the last few days the hot name is Luciano Spalletti, who has been brought to the Al-Nassr bench by the media, an excellent coach from the technical-tactical point of view and just as skilful in the mental side.
Waiting for developments on this crazy negotiation we can say without any kind of doubt that the Tuscan coach would really be a breath of fresh air not only for Saudi Arabia, but for the whole AFC panorama.
