Intervista a Junior Negao: l’uomo copertina del 2020.

L’ultima edizione dell’AFC Champions League, ha visto trionfare, a sorpresa, i sudcoreani dell’Ulsan Hyundai che guidati da uno straordinario Junior Negao sono riusciti a togliersi la piu grande soddisfazione possibile dopo anni abbastanza sfortunati. Nelle precedenti giornate abbiamo scambiato due chiacchiere con il bomber copertina del 2020, che ci ha parlato di sé, del meraviglioso ambiente che è la Corea del Sud e di alcuni retroscena veramente interessanti.

Gleidionor Figueiredo Pinto Junior, alias di Junior Negao (o Negrao) nacque il 30 Dicembre del 1986 a Salvador de Bahia, ed è proprio in Brasile che si concentrerà la maggior parte della sua carriera fino ad ora. Il suo talento in età giovane, dove giocava sempre vicino alla porta nel ruolo di attaccante, che poi sarà il suo per tutta la carriera, fu notato dall’agente Eduardo Uram proprietario di un fondo di investimento tra i maggiori in Brasile.

“Ho sempre giocato attaccante, ho sempre avuto la passione del gol; sono nato con l’idolo di Ronaldo il Fenomeno e certe volte cercavo di riprodurre le skills che vedevo fare a lui in tv, all’allenamento, era impossibile”. Queste le sue parole riguardo la prima domanda, classica, sulla sua infanzia. Il concetto principale, però, che sta alla base del fondo di investimento ESG (Europe Sports Group) è il fatto che un giocatore stazionario non sia considerato un business in quanto controproducente al fatturato e ciò spingerà Junior a diversi trasferimenti.

“Quando un giocatore cambia troppe squadre non è mai positivo” racconta Negao, che dopo un calvario praticamente decennale approdò in Corea del Sud, sponda Daegu nella stagione 2017, segnando 12 reti in 16 partite ed iniziando il vero e proprio boom della sua carriera all’età di quasi 31 anni.

Così dopo una sola stagione al Daegu dove fece già capire il proprio immenso valore, fu acquistato dall’Ulsan Hyundai, suo attuale club dove scrisse la storia, la sua grande storia, arrivando a segnare 84 reti in poco più di 100 gare, portandolo ad essere paragonato ai grandi dell’epoca attuale per media gol; infatti in questo 2020 dopo i nomi di Lewandowski, Messi e Cristiano Ronaldo tra i grandi bomber mondiali è stato inserito anche Junior Negao.

“Ho sempre lavorato duro, mi sono allenato duramente per inseguire i miei obiettivi, sia personali che di squadra, ma quello che ho fatto quest’anno è stato veramente incredibile e mi ha sorpreso”. Andando poi a motivare i numerosi ragazzi con il mito del pallone esaltando il fatto che “lavorando duramente ogni cosa andrà bene”.

Nelle ultime due stagioni Junior Negrao in K League ha sempre concluso la classifica marcatori in testa e con l’Ulsan ha sfiorato la vittoria del campionato, la K League, arrivando sempre seconda o addirittura concludendo la regoular season in testa alla classifica. Ma dopo la salita vi è sempre la discesa ed il suo piu grande successo è stato la vittoria della Champions League il mese scorso, arrivata dopo numerosi ostacoli extra calcistici e non, tra cui la pandemia globale COVID-19 e l’ennesimo secondo posto in campionato.

Dopo la conquista del titolo, Junior ha voluto soffermarsi su quella che secondo lui è la squadra piu forte dell’AFC:
“Il Beijing Guoan è la squadra che mi ha impressionato di più, i foreign players sono così collegati tra di loro… Mi sono sentito veramente al settimo cielo quando li abbiamo battuti perché ero a conoscenza di quanto fossero forti”. Una menzione speciale quindi ai colleghi brasiliani Renato Augusto, Fernando e Alan hanno impensierito i sogni di gloria dell’Ulsan, ma Junior non si perde in chiacchiere per rivelarci quale secondo lui sia il giocatore locale più forte dell’intera Asia, continuando indirettamente a fare i complimenti al Beijing Guoan:

“Ho giocato contro un sacco di difensori nella mia carriera ma sono realmente impressionato da Kim Min-Jae, questo ragazzo è forte, veloce ed intelligente. Non sarà una sorpresa se un domani dovesse firmare per una grande in Europa”. Elogi quindi degni di nota verso un difensore che più volte durante le ultime sessioni di mercato è stato associato con squadre importanti tra cui Tottenham, Lazio e Siviglia.
Infine Junior trovò una menzione speciale anche per i suoi compagni dell’Ulsan:

“Tutti i giocatori desideravano vincere la Champions League, perché l’ultimo anno abbiamo lavorato duramente”. Alla domanda su chi secondo lui fosse il leader della squadra non si tirò indietro e rispose chiaramente: “Lee Keun-Ho (36 anni, attaccante d’esperienza con un passato tra Giappone e Qatar, ndr) è un grande leader ed è un giocatore veramente importante per noi, ci aiuta sia dentro che fuori dal campo, uno dei migliori con la quale abbia mai giocato”.

In conclusione di intervista con Junior abbiamo avuto spazio per parlare dei sentimenti che prova in Corea del Sud, dopo questa esperienza di quasi 4 anni da stabile in un paese, cosa unica e rara. “In Corea del Sud mi sento realizzato, il modo in cui le persone mi hanno aiutato non lo dimenticherò mai! Mi sento veramente a casa in Corea.”

Un posto che dunque Junior non dimenticherà mai visto che sembrerebbe imminente il suo trasferimento in Cina ai neo promossi del Changchun Yatai, ma attendiamo sviluppi perché mai dire mai.

Particolare il modo fraterno in cui Junior Negao, si è rivolto, tutto ciò ha dato modo a noi di All Asian Football di conoscere prima che un grande campione, una grande persona sempre concentrata e genuina, addirittura scherzosa facendo diverse esclamazioni sul fatto di essere stati il suo porta fortuna in occasione della Champions League (dopo avergli dichiarato vittoria in anticipo, dai quarti di finale). Così come lui ha augurato a noi, auguriamo il meglio per tutto quello che verrà a questo grande campione con il quale è stato un piacere scambiare due chiacchiere.

 

 

Interview to Junior Negao: the cover player of 2020

The last edition of the AFC Champions League saw the surprise triumph of the South Koreans Ulsan Hyundai, who, led by an extraordinary Junior Negao, managed to take the greatest possible satisfaction after some unfortunate years. In the previous days we had a chat with the cover bomber of 2020, who told us about himself, the wonderful environment that is South Korea and some very interesting background.

Gleidionor Figueiredo Pinto Junior, aka Junior Negao (or Negao) was born on 30 December 1986 in Salvador de Bahia, and it is in Brazil that most of his career to date has been concentrated. His talent at a young age, where he always played close to the goal in the role of striker, which would then be his throughout his career, was noticed by the agent Eduardo Uram, owner of one of the biggest investment funds in Brazil.

“I have always played as a striker, I have always had a passion for scoring goals; I was born with the idol of Ronaldo the Phenomeno and sometimes I tried to reproduce the skills I saw him do on TV, in training, it was impossible”. These are his words regarding the first, classic question about his childhood. The main concept, however, behind the ESG (Europe Sports Group) investment fund is the fact that a stationary player is not considered a business as it is counterproductive to turnover and this will push Junior to several transfers.

“When a player changes too many teams it’s never good,” says Negao, who after a practically decade-long ordeal landed at South Korea side Daegu in the 2017 season, scoring 12 goals in 16 games and starting the real boom of his career at the age of almost 31.

So after just one season at Daegu where he already showed his immense value, he was bought by Ulsan Hyundai, his current club where he wrote history, his great history, scoring 84 goals in just over 100 games, leading him to be compared to the greats of the current era for goal average; in fact in this 2020 after the names of Lewandowski, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo among the great world bombers was also included Junior Negao.

“I’ve always worked hard, trained hard to pursue my goals, both personal and team goals, but what I’ve done this year has been truly incredible and has surprised me”. He then went on to motivate the many boys with the ball myth by extolling the fact that “by working hard everything will go well”.

In the last two seasons Junior Negrao in the K League has always finished top of the scorer’s table and with Ulsan he came close to winning the K League championship, always finishing second or even finishing the regoular season at the top of the table. But after the uphill climb there is always the downhill climb, and his greatest achievement was winning the Champions League last month, which came after numerous extra-football and non-football obstacles, including the COVID-19 global pandemic and yet another second place finish in the league.

After the title win, Junior wanted to dwell on what he believes is the strongest team in the AFC:
“Beijing Guoan is the team that impressed me the most, the foreign players are so connected to each other… I felt really over the moon when we beat them because I knew how strong they were.” A special mention then to fellow Brazilians Renato Augusto, Fernando and Alan, who gave Ulsan’s dreams of glory a run for their money, but Junior doesn’t mince his words to reveal which he thinks is the strongest local player in the whole of Asia, indirectly going on to compliment Beijing Guoan:

“I’ve played against a lot of defenders in my career but I’m really impressed with Kim Min-Jae, this guy is strong, fast and smart. It won’t be a surprise if he signs for a major European club tomorrow. Notable praise, then, for a defender who has been linked with top teams including Tottenham, Lazio and Sevilla several times in recent transfer windows.
Finally Junior also found a special mention for his Ulsan teammates:

“All the players wanted to win the Champions League, because the last year we worked hard.” When asked who he thought was the leader of the team, he did not back down and answered clearly: “Lee Keun-Ho (36 years old, experienced striker with a past between Japan and Qatar, ed.) is a great leader and a really important player for us, he helps us both on and off the field, one of the best I have ever played with”.

At the end of our interview with Junior we had space to talk about his feelings in South Korea, after this experience of almost 4 years as a permanent resident in a country, which is unique and rare. “In South Korea I feel fulfilled, the way people have helped me I will never forget! I really feel at home in Korea.”

It is a place that Junior will never forget, as it seems that his move to China to newly promoted Changchun Yatai is imminent, but we await developments because never say never.

Particularly the brotherly way in which Junior Negao, has addressed, all this has given way to us of All Asian Football to know before a great champion, a great person always focused and genuine, even joking by making several exclamations on the fact of having been his good luck charm at the Champions League (after having declared victory in advance, from the quarter-finals). As he wished us, we wish the best for all that is to come to this great champion with whom it was a pleasure to chat.
